This policy explains what the campaign of Nabil Ahmed, candidate for Town Councillor in Ward 1, Town of Milton, does with your personal information. The campaign is a temporary election campaign run under Ontario’s Municipal Elections Act, 1996, not a business.
The short version: we collect only what you give us, use it only for this election, never sell or rent it, and delete it when the campaign ends — except for records the law requires us to keep.
Who is responsible
Nabil Ahmed is responsible for personal information collected through this website. Questions, corrections or deletion requests: nabilahmedrealtor@gmail.com or 647-782-8112.
What we collect
When you use the form on this site
- Your name and email address
- Your mobile number, street address and postal code, if you choose to give them (an address is needed to deliver a lawn sign)
- What you are interested in (volunteering, a lawn sign, updates, hosting an event, an issue you want raised)
- Anything you write in the message box
- Your consent to be contacted, and the date you gave it
When you donate
Donations are processed by Stripe, not by this website. Stripe collects your name, billing address, email, phone number and payment details, and confirms your eligibility to contribute. The campaign receives your name, address, email, phone and the amount, and never sees your full card number. Stripe’s handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
Automatically
This site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or tracking scripts. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability.
Why we collect it, and the law behind it
- To reply to you and follow up on the issue, sign or volunteer offer you raised.
- To send campaign updates, only if you asked for them.
- To meet legal obligations. The Municipal Elections Act, 1996 requires the campaign to record the name and address of every contributor, issue a receipt for every contribution, and file a financial statement with the Town Clerk. Contributions over $100 are listed by name in that statement, which is a public document anyone may inspect at Town Hall.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent or trade your information.
- We never share it with other candidates, parties or businesses.
- We do not use the municipal voters’ list for anything except this election. The Municipal Elections Act prohibits commercial use, and the list is never merged into this site’s mailing list.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Who can see your information
Your details are handled by Nabil Ahmed and a small number of campaign volunteers who need them to do their jobs, and who are told to keep them confidential. Service providers that process data on our behalf — our website host, email provider, form provider and Stripe — may store it on their systems, which can be located outside Canada and may therefore be subject to the laws of those countries. We also disclose information where the law requires it, such as in the financial statement described above.
Email and text messages (CASL)
We send campaign email only to people who asked for it. Every message identifies the campaign, includes contact information, and has an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time by clicking unsubscribe or emailing nabilahmedrealtor@gmail.com, and we will action it promptly. Canada’s anti-spam law treats messages soliciting a contribution to a candidate differently from commercial email, but we apply the same consent-and-unsubscribe standard either way.
How long we keep it
- Volunteer, lawn sign and mailing list details: kept for the campaign, then deleted by December 31, 2026, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Financial records, including contributor names and addresses: the law requires these to be kept until November 15, 2030.
- The voters’ list: destroyed at the end of the campaign, as the Municipal Elections Act requires.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email nabilahmedrealtor@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. If a record must be kept by law, such as a contribution record, we will tell you and explain why.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS. Donations run through Stripe, which is PCI-compliant; the campaign never stores card numbers. Volunteer lists are kept in access-controlled accounts. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected people promptly if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
